Construction of the new FLMJ

Here, we present the construction of the new railway.  Progress has been slow due to a number of delays beyond our control.  Also, however, we want the railway to be reliable, so it is not a job that can be done overnight.  This page will be updated whenever suitable new photographs become available, and we suggest that you visit the (whole) site monthly at least, to stay up to date.

Pictures of the operational sections of the railway are available on the FLMJ Opening page.

Lövhöjden station board legs. Here is the start of the new railway.  The legs are made from square section down-pipe, set into the ground with 'post cement,' and then topped with conventional cement.  This is Lövhöjden station in the making!
The tops are made of plastic sheet as used on conservatory rooves, supported along the sides with timber frames.  The cross frames are below the longitudinal frames allowing plenty of room for adjustment when attached to the uprights (legs). The board fixed to the posts
Detail of the board frames. A corner block is used to attach the timber frame to the plastic upright.  This picture also shows the irregular height of the upright and the space available for correction whenever needed.

Baseboard legs at Månstorp The Månstorp baseboard legs had no soft ground to go into, so brick piers were built; and then the legs fitted.

March 2002

The 'Y2' set arrives at Månstorp! The pointwork at the end of the station has just been laid on cork underlay.
Cork is not really suitable out of doors, but when it is covered with ballast, it is protected from the weather ... and it gives the correct profile with the ballast!
