Peco Brass Rail Joiners

TThe FLMJ's preferred rail joiner (fishplate) is the Peco product reference SL-10B. This is a Brass component suitable for Code-100 rail. Regrettably, Peco has decided to withdraw this component, leaving us with only the Nickel-Silver variety.
Experience has shewn that the Nickel-Silver joiner acts like a fuse when we are using High Frequency Track Cleaners (HFTC), in that they break. We have 'bonded' our track joins with short pieces of cable, but this does not eradicate the problem, especially if the HFTC engages whilst a train is passing over a joint or is very near to one.
We would be delighted to be able to buy or acquire remaining stocks of SL-10B (subject to available funds) if any can be made available, please.
Thank you.

Appeal for new members

The FLMJ, as you will know by now, is operated and maintained by "friends," the members of AJK (Adnalms Järnvägsklubb).
There is no fee payable for membership of the club (and therefore no voting rights), but members are expected to attend a minimum of 12 times in the year (and there is a minimum of 24 events during the year), balance their commitment between operation and maintenance, and comply with the rules of the railway. Also, of course, although members do not actually need to have an especial interest in Swedish railways, they must respect the fact that this is a Swedish model railway.
Because of this different approach to running a club, we do not normally advertise for new members.  Traditionally, members have joined following a visit to the railway, when they have been suitably impressed with what we have here.
However, given the nature of the layout (in that it really does need more than one person to operate it), it is more than just inconvenient when members are unable to turn up due to other commitments.  So, we have decided to invite regular visitors to our website to consider joining AJK.
Remember, we are located on the outskirts of Farnborough (Hants., UK), and cannot be depended upon to provide transport to and from club events (the railway stations at Farnborough Main, Frimley and Blackwater are each a 20-30 minute walk away).
We normally require members to be aged 12+, but under-12s who appear mature enough will be considered (also, anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on their first visit at least).
Use our "
Contact Us" page if you would like to know more, and welcome to AJK.

Heljan X2000 Models

Word has reached the FLMJ that many Swedish owners of the horribly "basic" Heljan X2000 models are throwing them away!
Understandable as this is (given the exceptionally poor quality of the model), the FLMJ would like to offer a home to these models!  We would arrange collection during an annual visit to Sweden (other times can be arranged via one of several friends), so there would be probably no expense incurred by the benefactor.  We may be able to make a small payment for them, but knowing what they're like, it would be a minimal amount.  We cannot justify the expense of the 'current model on offer,' given the FLMJ's outdoor location and the amount of 'weather-damage' that our models sustain.  Therefore, we are keen to turn a "blind-eye" to the quality of these sets, hence our plea for them.
Please
email us if you are able to help us in this way. No Trade. Thank-you.

Website Pictures

As enthusiast observers of the Swedish railways, we aim to share as much information and knowledge as we can with other people - especially those who visit this site. In doing so, we have some pictures that really ought not to be here for copyright reasons! We are, therefore, looking toward replacing them.
However, there are many that we need, and our supplies are limited. So we thought we'd ask around to see if anyone would like to contribute one or a few pictures to the website - and all photographers will be credited - unless especially requested otherwise.
We have a list of what we need, and you can see this by clicking below.  It is a big list, but maybe between some of us, we can get quite a lot of it sorted out!  Pictures should be submitted as JPEG attachments to e-mails sent to us at ajkATadnalmDOTorgDOTuk (replace AT with @ and DOT with.) and please keep below 100KB if at all possible.  Don't forget to include a brief caption and who should be credited as the photographer.  Please also limit submissions to one picture per e-mail, but otherwise you can send as many as you like.
Thank you.
